Governing background agents at scale

How GAL brings visibility and control to autonomous coding agents running in the cloud.

The rise of background agents

Background agents — AI coding agents that run autonomously in the cloud — are the next frontier. They can work on issues, fix bugs, and create pull requests without a developer actively supervising them.

This is incredibly powerful, and incredibly risky without proper governance. A misconfigured background agent can make unauthorized changes, access sensitive files, or consume expensive API credits without anyone noticing.

GAL for background agents

GAL now supports governance for background agent sessions. Every background agent that runs through GAL inherits the organization's approved configuration. Session activity is logged, tool usage is tracked, and administrators can see exactly what each agent is doing in real time.

We are building the control plane for autonomous coding. As agents become more capable, the governance layer becomes more critical. GAL ensures that capability and control scale together.
